Whirlpool Electric Double Oven Cooktop (W10877558)

The Whirlpool Electric Double Oven Cooktop is the main surface cooking assembly that sits on top of the range and houses the heating elements, burner receptacles, and surface wiring that allow you to cook on the stovetop. It works alongside the double oven below, giving you a complete cooking system where heat is delivered directly to pots and pans through the electric coil or radiant elements built into the cooktop surface. The Whirlpool Electric Double Oven Cooktop can wear out or become damaged from heat stress, electrical surges, cracked or warped surfaces, broken element connections, or physical impact over years of use. Spills that seep into the wiring or element receptacles can also cause corrosion or short circuits that prevent one or more cooking zones from working correctly. Look for these symptoms to help determine if your cooktop needs to be replaced: - One or more surface burners or elements do not heat up at all - Burner stays on high heat and cannot be adjusted or turned off - Cooktop surface is visibly cracked, warped, or broken - Burn marks, scorch spots, or signs of electrical arcing on the surface - Sparking or popping sounds coming from a burner area during use - Element receptacle is loose, melted, or corroded - Range trips the breaker or loses power specifically at the cooktop
