Whirlpool Washer Agitator (W10836496)

The Whirlpool Washer Agitator is the central post inside the wash tub that moves clothes through the water during the wash cycle, using a twisting back-and-forth motion to loosen dirt and detergent from fabrics. It connects to the drive system below the tub and relies on that mechanical action to circulate laundry for a thorough clean. A Whirlpool washer agitator can wear out or break from years of heavy use, overloading the machine, or washing items that get tangled around the post and put stress on the assembly. Cracks, broken fins, or a stripped drive connection can all prevent the agitator from moving clothes properly during the wash cycle. Here are some common symptoms that may point to a failing agitator in your washer: - Agitator does not move or only moves in one direction during the wash cycle - Clothes come out still dirty or unevenly washed - Visible cracks, breaks, or missing fins on the agitator post - Agitator feels loose, wobbles, or shifts during operation - Loud clunking or banging noise coming from inside the tub while washing - Agitator spins freely without gripping or driving the load
