WISE Guide for Spelling

The WISE Guide to Spelling divides an updated list of 2,000 spelling words into manageable daily lessons with two pages of ideas for each set of 20 words. Preliminary warm up drills and motivational comments for introducing the lesson are provided. Sentences illustrate each word. Selections come from the Bible, literature, quotes of famous people, or instructive comments. Each word is divided into syllables and marked with highlights to amplify spelling rules. Suggested teacher dialogue is clearly written out. Creative spelling reinforcements replace boring, passive activities like copying a word five times. Optional enrichment activities involve a wide variety of subjects: art, literature, composition, grammar (including all parts of speech), antonyms, synonyms, derivatives, contractions, compound words, alphabetizing, punctuation, homonyms, analogies, words of comparison, figures of speech, poetry, plurals, possession, appositives and more.
