It also improves turbo spool on your 2.0T, allowing your GLI to hit boost sooner at lower rpm.   WHY WOULD YOU WANT A CATTED DOWNPIPE? Great Question! There are multiple reasons why you would want a catted downpipe for your GLI versus a catless downpipe system.  PASSING EMISSIONS: One of the biggest benefits of a catted downpipe is that it increases your chances of passing emissions.* The catalytic converter in the ARM GTI catted downpipe is significantly less restrictive than the OEM catalytic converter, allowing it to increase the power of your 2.0T while still going to work on burning up those exhaust gases that don't get along with the environment and the EPA. NO FOUL SMELLS: The catted downpipe destroys most of the elements in the exhaust gas commonly associated with catless downpipes which produce strong exhaust fumes. If you've owned a vehicle with a catless exhaust you likely know the odor associated with a catless downpipe. The ARM GLI catted downpipe eliminates the smell of many exhaust fumes above what you would experience from the OEM downpipe. EXHAUST SOUND: Many enthusiasts prefer the sound of a catted downpipe over the standard catless downpipe. Having the catalytic converter in the downpipe of your GLI reduces some of the high-pitch rasp commonly associated with catless systems. It almost acts similar to a resonator in the way it affects the acoustics of the exhaust note. CONSTRUCTION The ARM Jetta GLI catted downpipe features a full 3" stainless steel construction with smooth bends for improved exhaust flow. The upper section of the downpipe has a CNC-machined flange that mates up to the turbo and includes a flex joint to relieve stress and make installation easier. The downpipe to catback section is where the 200 cell sport catalytic converter is placed. The ARM catted downpipe kit is designed to fit both CBFA and CCTA applications, so you can make sure that, no matter which version of the 2.0T you have, the ARM downpipe will accommodate your Jetta.  BOLTS UP TO STOCK OR AFTERMARKET CATBACK EXHAUST The ARM Jetta GLI catted downpipe will fit the existing OEM catback exhaust or any aftermarket exhaust that connects the OEM downpipe. The ARM downpipe kit includes a 3" to 2.25" reducer to allow it to mate up perfectly to the stock exhaust system. Or opt to connect to a 3" aftermarket exhaust system for a full 3" turbo-back setup.  IN THE BOX • ARM Downpipe Upper Section • ARM Downpipe Lower Section •ARM Mounting Bracket • ARM Turbo Gasket • ARM Exhaust Clamps FITMENT GUIDE Make Model Submodel Engine Volkswagen Jetta VI All 2.0T Volkswagen Jetta VI GLI 2.0T   *NOTE: Installing a catted downpipe does not guarantee that your car will pass emissions.
