The result is another confident and competent performance from the New Jersey brand. While there's plenty of competition at this price point, I have yet to find a turntable able to match the drive and presence of the Prime, along with its ability to let the music do the talking." - JAY GARRETT   VPI Prime 21+ review - Read More "Add solid build, ease of set-up and the generous supply of accessories in the box, and it’s clear that VPI has pushed its Prime turntable a useful step forward. If you’re looking for a record-playing package at this level, this one simply has to be on your shortlist. " - What Hi-Fi?   VPI Prime 21+ turntable - Read More "In the Prime 21+, VPI has achieved the turn-key high-end turntable without compromise. Sure, you can build something better, but you probably won’t do so for anything close to the same money. Each component in the system is a ‘honey’ and putting them all together sings like an angel. Unless you enjoy the self-flagellation of picking and mixing (or you have a favourite cartridge that you must use no matter what), I find this a tough act to beat at anywhere near the money. "   VPI Prime 21+ Belt-driven Turntable - Read More "While its assembly and set-up might not be as brisk as VPI would imply, and there are a few quirks to be encountered along the way, once up and running the Prime 21+ is a magnificent-sounding turntable package. It brings out the best from less-than-perfect recordings while also ensuring your well-produced LPs will shine. What's more, the custom-made Shyla cartridge complements it superbly." - Adam Smith   VPI Prime 21+ - Read More "If you want to nitpick, you could argue that the setup procedure is not as swift as VPI suggests – although a different way of considering this is that there’s enough flexibility to keep even the most enthusiastic tweaker happy – and there are a few quirks along the way. But to focus on such matters would be to miss the real majesty of the Prime 21+. This is a magnificent-sounding turntable package that gives less than pristine recordings a healthy dose of spit and polish while revealing new-found details from well-produced vinyl. Whether or not splashing the extra cash that turns the Prime 21 into the 21+ is worthwhile is something you’ll have to decide for yourself, but for our money, the Shyla cartridge is a perfect accompaniment to an already highly impressive turntable.
