VPI Industries Avenger Turnable

VPI Avenger Turnable The VPI Avenger Table was originally a project started by Harry over 12 years ago. In the process of the design, the project was dropped in mid-production due to excessive demand by HR-X customers which left the design and proto-type chassis to be mothballed. The good news about the abandoned design is Harry instead shifted his focus to starting and completing the VPI Classic Turntable. Shortly after the development of the Prime, the forgotten Avenger and its designs were re-discovered! The working name was the "Tri-Pod Project". Being newly motivated, Harry has finally put in motion the table that will be his masterpiece! The unique iterations that had been crafted from the original process were completed as Special Editions. The VPI Avenger chassis is three layers of bonded acrylic/aluminum/acrylic, with damping material between layers, locked in by 3 isolation steel corner posts, 3 bolts, and the massive bearing assembly.  The corner posts which hold the tonearms (up to three will fit) have adjustable machined knobs giving the user the ability to easily raise and lower the height to level the table.   Fully adjustable arm boards are made from 5/8” 6061 aluminum for rigidity and grounding. The table can mount up to three arms, any manufacturer's brand, and any length!   VPI JMW 12 3D Tonearm Pivot to spindle: 300 mm Internal Wire: VPI Copper weave Effective length: 313.0 mm Effective mass: 10.5g. But the performance characteristics you will attain will place you solidly in the top tier of the highend. If this is not enough for you, the Avenger offers various levels of upgrades that could total an additional 10K US. This could be done in stages or all at once. I’m hopeful that in the future I will have the opportunity to try these upgrades and report back to you. After all, the base model sounds so damn good it is not leaving this house. Thus the Avenger has now taken its place in the Audiophilia cosmos" - Martin Appel   Analog Corner #280: VPI Avenger Reference turntable, VPI Fatboy tonearm - Read More "When I consider the high build quality and excellence of machining in VPI's Avenger Reference, its heavy metal mass, its design ingenuity, its rugged American blinginess, and its more than reasonable price, it's not at all surprising that, judging by what I've seen traveling abroad, this model is America's goodwill ambassador to the world of turntables." - Michael Fremer    VPI Avenger Turntable - Read More "An infectiously musical performer straight out of the box, the Avenger lends itself to further upgrades or modifications with the passing of the years. With many vinyl lovers looking to buy their “last turntable”, VPI is offering you the chance to stuff down a monster slice of gateau while still having some left over for later. It’s been a long, long time since I was without a VPI turntable in the house. The arrival of the musically impressive Avenger ensures that won’t be changing anytime soon." - Roy Gregory VPI Avenger Reference Turntable - Read More "I also have to say in defense of the Avenger’s price that it is a practical exercise in technology and physics. There are some “extreme” turntable designs which seem to be more exercises in high tech than practical units. Don’t get me wrong, some much higher ne plus ultra competitors are superb, but some aren’t. I’d wanted to be sure I could hear real differences—if any—before I paid more and not simply judge by the price tag. I’d also wanted to ensure what I bought was built to last. You can always pay more, but getting more over time can be a different thing." - Anthony Cordesman   The VPI Avenger and a Tale of Three Tables - Part 1 - Read More "This is going to be an interesting ride as we progress through the different iterations of the Avenger table. It's hard to imagine the sound could become much better, but we are going to find out what else VPI has in store for us. Stay tuned… " - Mark Pearson       AVAILABLE UPGRADES Periphery Ring clamp for the ultimate in record warp reduction Analog Drive System (ADS) for the utmost accuracy in motor speed and fine speed adjustments.
