The VP Globe Pendant by Verner Panton (1969) is a stunning synthesis of transparency, color, and sculptural balance. Encased in a crystal-clear acrylic sphere, five internal reflectors—two of which are opal glass—are suspended by slender steel chains. Subtle accents of white on select reflectors add a playful yet refined flourish, while the materials combine to create a “floating” effect that highlights the pendant's cosmic, retro-futuristic character. When lit, the VP Globe delivers a dual lighting experience: a focused beam directed upwards and downwards from the central lamp, coupled with a soft ambient glow diffused throughout the room.
