VOX PTT Cable for Smartphones

Interfaces smartphones and tablets directly to the transceivers handling PTT by tone (VOX) and audio levels attenuation. minimalistic design – optimal for portable operations uses smartphone’s or tablet’s sound card, no external power required supports most common CTIA pinout of the headphone jack (GND on ring 2) audio payload from smartphone via left headphone channel, attenuated for transceiver’s mic input low latency VOX PTT by the tone or audio payload on the right headphone channel audio payload to smartphone is attenuated for smartphone’s mic input works with existing Digirig audio cables about 11″ end-to-end shielded for RFI protection premium quality materials and craftsmanship Usage notes: Connect TRRS male jack into smartphone’s or tablet’s headphone jack Connect TRRS male jack of transceiver-specific Digirig audio cable to female socket of this adapter In audio settings set headphones volume to the maximum If PTT by tone setting is available in the digital modes app then set the tone to the right channel and audio payload to the left channel. The tone frequency works at 1KHz, but higher frequencies can improve (reduce) the PTT latency. Experiment to determine the best option. If audio prefix, suffix setting (tone on the payload channel before and/or after actual data) is available, start with about 300ms and see what works reliably without adding too much time to the transmission.
