Glacier Clear Ice Maker by Viski® | Barsonist

For the whiskey drinker who knows that cloudy ice dilutes more than just the look of a pour, the Viski Glacier Ice Maker produces two large, genuinely transparent cubes that belong in any serious home bar setup. Construction The Glacier uses a directional freezing system housed in a sturdy insulated plastic outer shell paired with a flexible silicone inner mold. The outer shell slows the freezing process from the bottom up, pushing dissolved gases and impurities out before the cube solidifies. The silicone insert releases cubes cleanly without cracking or chipping, and the whole unit goes straight into the dishwasher when you are done. The build feels deliberate and commercial in proportion, not like a novelty item you picked up at a kitchen accessories counter. Performance Where standard ice trays trap air bubbles and produce milky cubes that melt unevenly and cloud a neat pour, the Glacier's slow-freeze method yields dense, optically clear squares that melt at a controlled rate. That density matters: a large clear cube has less surface area relative to its volume than smaller crushed or standard cubes, which means your Scotch, bourbon, or aged rum stays cold longer without turning watery. Two cubes per batch is the right yield for a focused tasting session or a paired set of rocks glasses on a Saturday evening. Who This Is For This mold is the right tool for the whiskey collector who serves bottles worth drinking slowly, the home bartender who wants their Old Fashioned or Negroni on the rocks to look as considered as it tastes, and anyone hosting a dinner where the details are noticed. It pairs naturally with heavy-bottomed rocks glasses, crystal whiskey tumblers, and wide-mouthed lowball glasses where the cube is on full display. It also earns its place in any home bar where presentation is part of the experience, not an afterthought. Frequently Asked If you are searching for how to make clear ice at home without professional equipment, the Viski Glacier is one of the most accessible solutions available. It uses the same directional freezing principle found in commercial ice programs at cocktail bars, scaled down for a standard home freezer. No special water treatment or equipment is required beyond the mold itself. The Case for Clear Ice The Viski Glacier Clear Ice Maker is a directional freeze mold that produces two large square clear ice cubes per cycle using an insulated plastic outer shell and flexible silicone inner insert. It is designed for home use and compatible with standard freezers. Each cube measures large enough to fill a standard rocks or lowball glass and melts significantly slower than conventional ice. Selected for Barsonist because it brings the directional freezing standard of professional cocktail bars into a home freezer without compromise on the result.
