With it's innovative dual-dynamic + EST design, it represents a triumph of audio engineering, and the sound is pure audio joy: fast, fun, and engaging. The VE EXT is one of our top 5 favorite IEMs at Bloom and was easily a runner up in our "Best IEMs in the world for 2022" review. Read our full review here! Uncompromising High Fidelity Listening to the EXT will bring you closer to the true spirit of your music. The four EST drivers create a wide open landscape of lush details that never feel exaggerated. Combining a 9.2mm dynamic driver feeding plenty of very low-end power, along with a 6mm driver for the mids, Vision Ears achieved uncompromising beauty and greatness in audio. Featuring their exclusive 2nd generation HALC (High Precision Leveling Chamber), Vision Ears was able to finely tune the sound of the Mids driver to extreme accuracy. The Design The goal for the EXT was to create a technical but elegant shell with the aesthetics of an open-back headphone. The most captivating element of the EXT is the purple machined faceplate with the prominent and magnificent X design. The elegant deep purple color anodization is a special VE custom color, proudly showing off the VE brand. A vacuum-metalized aluminum mesh is elegantly sparkling underneath the open structure, giving the dynamic drivers air to breathe and freedom to unfold their rumbling power. The shell was made of solid black acrylic in a semi-custom shape with a transparent window to peek inside at the green HALC and EST drivers. The Case The EXT comes with a finely machined aluminum case. The case machining was made with extraordinary precision for a perfect fit. The inside walls are all covered with a rubber inlay to keep your EXTs protected when you are on the go. A premium leather pocket holds the earphones in place, preventing them from colliding while on-the-move. Custom Cable The EXT comes with a premium 8 wire SPC 28AWG cable with a balanced 2.5mm termination and audio grade POM insulation. Convert to 4.4mm with the included new gold-plated phosphor bronze conductor adapter. Technical Specialties HALC An improved HALC tuning concept was exclusively developed for the midrange driver. Additionally for the leveling chamber of the HALC, an STC (Side Tuning Chamber) was used for fine-tuning the midrange for vocal enhancement and higher level of realism. EST The technology of electrostatic drivers is well known to high-demanding audiophiles, yet they are mainly used in high-end headphones. In more recent years, the use of EST technology is gaining ground with IEMs internationally, making the huge benefits of electrostatic drivers now mobile. Due to a voltage transformer inside the earphone shell, the EST tweeters don't require an external power source and instead can be powered by a high quality but powerful amp inside your DAP. 2019 brought the 1st ;generation of the Sonion EST drivers, but the more recent 2nd generation is state of the art with a higher output SPL and ability to use use dual EST drivers, Dynamic Drivers A dedicated 9.2mm for the lows and 6mm for the mids are equipped with a Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSR) surround which allows the driver to perform with very low THD. The Al-Mg Alloy diaphragm of these drivers are light but stiff which makes the performance surprisingly fast, very deep, and precise. A strong Rare Earth N52 Neodymium Magnet allow the driver to perform better in more demanding situations with less distortion at any operating level. Additionally, a double N52 Neodymium Magnet was added to the 6mm driver further decreasing the THD while increasing the SPL without increasing the driver size.
