Founded in 2006, Wild Eye Releasing has carved out a name as a driving force in low-budget, underground, and outsider cinema, earning a cult following among filmmakers and fans alike. Wild Eye champions horror, action, sci-fi, exploitation, arthouse, documentaries, and vintage gems from across the globe, delivering them worldwide via home video, digital and theatrical avenues. We also produce our own in-house features and mockbusters like the fan-favorites Cocaine Shark, Amityville in Space and the Ouija Shark and Jurassic Shark series, while proudly distributing VHS era classics such as Splatter Farm, Zombie Bloodbath, Bloody Muscle Body Builder in Hell and The Necro Files via our sister imprint, Visual Vengeance. When her sister vanishes without a trace, Yurino follows the only clue left behind: a cryptic website linked to an abandoned apartment and a rumored destination for those seeking to end their lives. Her search leads her deep into a remote mountain village—a place that doesn’t appear on any map and doesn’t want to be found. The village is home to a disturbing community of outsiders drawn there by despair… and to the locals who claim to “save” them. Their twisted doctrine is simple: suicide is forbidden—but death is not. Those who arrive hoping to die are instead hunted, butchered, and sacrificed in acts of violence so grotesque they defy belief. Reunited at last, Yurino and her sister must confront the horrifying truth behind the village’s crusade and fight their way through an escalating nightmare of sadistic killers and inhuman rituals. Directed by Jun'ichi Yamamoto, the film showcases the vision of a cult filmmaker working on the outer edges of Japanese horror. Known for a run of underground exploitation features, Yamamoto blends taboo subject matter, surreal imagery, and extreme violence into confrontational genre cinema that rejects conventions - securing his status as a bold, divisive voice in modern J-horror. directed by: Jun'ichi Yamamoto starring: Mai Arai, Shun Kitagawa, Shinichi Fukazawa, Shinji Kubo, Sora Kurumi, Kanae Suzuki 2018 / 72 min / 1.85:1 / Japanese DTS-HD MA 2.0 Additional info: Region Free Blu-ray Commentary with critic Justin Decloux and writer Dylan Cheung Meatball Dreams: a conversation with director Jun’ichi Yamamoto Japanese Horror Primer video essay Movie Machine: Jun’ichi Yamamoto career overview video essay Image gallery Original Japanese trailer Wild Eye trailer Folded poster English subtitles
