Give your furniture a fresh look with Cottage Color Artisan Furniture Paint by DIY Paint!   Faqs and Instructions for use  What is the difference between Cottage Color Paint and DIY Chalk and Clay Paint? When it comes to comparing Cottage Color Paint to Debi’s DIY Chalk and Clay-Based Furniture Paint, there are a few key differences that set them apart. For starters, Cottage Color is a “one-step” paint, meaning it has a built-in sealer. This means that you cannot reactivate the paint with water after it has dried. In contrast, the DIY Paint chalk and clay-based formula does not have a built-in sealer and requires either wax or topcoat to seal. Another key difference is that Cottage Color can be diluted with water only up to 10%. However, with the DIY chalk and clay paint, you can dilute it with water much more without affecting the quality of the paint. Finally, Cottage Color is self-leveling, whereas the DIY Paint chalk and clay paint is not. This means that you will get a smoother finish with Cottage Color. All in all, these differences should be taken into consideration when deciding which type of paint to use for your project. How do I apply Cottage Color Paint? Before you begin any painting project, it's important to make sure you're working on a clean, dry surface. Any dirt, oils or chipping paint on the surface will cause problems with the new paint, so it's important to remove them first. If you're using a light color, you may also need to prime the surface first with a product like DIY Salvation Solution to prevent bleed-through. Once you've completed the first coat of paint, lightly sand the surface before applying the second coat. In most cases, two coats will be sufficient. However, depending on the original color of your project surface, a third coat may be necessary to achieve good coverage. How long does it take for Cottage Color Paint to dry? It is important to allow each coat of paint to dry fully before applying the next. The first coat should be given about 12 hours to dry, while the second coat should only need about an hour to become touch-dry. If more than two coats are necessary, subsequent coats can be applied at shorter intervals provided that the previous coat is completely dry. Lightly sand between coats of paint using a fine-grit paper to create a smooth, flawless finish. How much Cottage Color Paint will I need for my project? One pint should cover about 25 square feet. How should I store Cottage Color Paint? Store your tightly-sealed Cottage Color Paint in a cool but frost-free space.  The shelf-life of unopened Cottage Color Paint is approximately 1 year.
