Rya rugs originated in Scandinavia, particularly Sweden, and became iconic in the mid-20th century for their cozy, luxurious feel and modernist simplicity. Designed to add warmth both visually and physically, these rugs gained popularity in minimalist and contemporary interiors, offering a bold pop of colour and a lush surface underfoot. The vintage carpet was masterfully hand-executed with the finest wool, following traditional and refined weaving techniques, and reached the Middle Ages. Its style, Rya, developed centuries ago in Scandinavia to protect people, especially mariners living off the sea, from severe weather conditions. Despite their historical heritage, the antique bears have an exceptionally modern design, set in the aesthetic standards of the 1950s.
