The narrow central field features a vertical arrangement of bold diamond medallions and intricate geometric motifs, framed by finely patterned zigzag and angular borders. Particularly distinctive are the numerous dark braided wool loops running along both sides, reflecting the piece's original function as a traditional tribal storage or bedding bag. The tightly worked surface, beautifully aged colours and subtle irregularities give the textile an authentic timeworn character. Both decorative and historically fascinating, this unusual Kurdish weaving is a wonderful example of nomadic textile craftsmanship and makes an exceptional collectable tribal piece or wall hanging.
