Vintage European Oltenia kilim 3'9" x 2'1"

Size: 3.9 x 2.1 Ft Origin: Oltenia, Southern Romania Circa: 1970s Material: Pure Wool This beautiful vintage European Oltenia kilim features a bold, vibrant composition that reflects the region's rich weaving traditions. The rug features a striking contrast between a deep charcoal central panel and a vivid red border, creating a balanced and visually engaging layout. The central field displays a vertical arrangement of stylised floral branches and botanical motifs. These delicate leaves, blossoms, and small berry-like forms are woven in soft tones of cream, pale yellow, muted green, and touches of red, giving the design a lively yet harmonious character. The floral motifs appear as if from a flowing garden, adding movement and elegance to the composition. Surrounding the field is a wide red border decorated with repeating geometric floral elements and traditional motifs typical of Oltenia kilims. The border's strict pattern frames the central design beautifully while adding rhythm and contrast to the overall piece. The palette of charcoal, vibrant red, cream, and subtle pastel accents lends the kilim a warm, decorative presence. Handwoven in wool using traditional flat-weave techniques, this vintage Oltenia kilim showcases the craftsmanship and artistic heritage of European village weaving. Its balanced design and colourful botanical motifs make it both a decorative textile and a charming example of traditional European folk art. Authentic vintage and antique Romanian Kilims are hand-woven with wool. Each one is an exceptional work of art and unique. Pictures are taken in natural light to portray the most realistic colours possible. Due to the handmade, preloved nature of the kilim, slight imperfections and flaws are not defects. Our kilims are professionally restored, and the fringes secured, ensuring many more years of life. Additionally, we recommend using a rug pad with a grippy back to keep your kilim in place and to smooth out any wrinkles that may have occurred during shipping. Using a rug pad will also safeguard your kilim from deterioration and, therefore, extend the life of your kilim. Our kilims are professionally cleaned.
