Vintage Peking Rug 4'3" x 2'5"

Size: 4.3 x 2.5 ft. Origin: China  Circa: 1950s Material: Pure Wool This elegant vintage Peking rug reflects the refined and minimalist aesthetic typical of early Chinese carpet weaving. The design features a soft ivory field framed by a deep navy blue border, creating a striking yet balanced contrast that lends the rug a calm, sophisticated presence. The composition is intentionally spacious, allowing the delicate floral motifs to stand out gracefully. Stylised blossoms and leafy branches appear in subtle shades of grey, soft pink, and muted tones, arranged asymmetrically in the corners. This open layout is characteristic of traditional Peking rugs, where negative space plays an important role in the overall design. A thin decorative outline forms a cartouche within the field, adding gentle architectural structure while maintaining the rug’s airy, uncluttered feel. The soft wool pile and restrained colour palette further enhance the understated elegance for which Chinese Peking carpets are known. Both decorative and versatile, this vintage Peking rug works beautifully in modern, minimalist, or classic interiors, bringing a touch of timeless Chinese artistry and quiet sophistication to any space. Authentic vintage and antique Chinese Oriental rugs are hand-knotted with wool or silk. Each one is an exceptional work of art and unique. Pictures are taken in natural light to portray the most realistic colours possible. Due to the handmade, preloved nature of these rugs, slight imperfections and flaws are not defects. Our rugs are professionally restored, and the fringes secured, ensuring many more years of life. Additionally, we recommend using a rug pad with a grippy back to keep your rug in place and to smooth out any wrinkles that may have occurred during shipping. Using a rug pad will also safeguard your carpet from deterioration and extend its life. Our rugs are professionally cleaned.
