Vintage Turkmen Rug 5'9" x 3'10"

Size: 5.9 x 3.10 ft. Origin: Turkmenistan Circa: 1980s Material: Pure Wool This exquisite vintage Turkmen rug is a powerful and expressive example of Central Asian tribal weaving. Handwoven from wool, it features a rich, deep madder-red ground that forms the perfect backdrop for a dynamic all-over composition of bold geometric motifs. Repeating hooked forms, stepped medallions, and stylised symbols are carefully arranged in vertical rhythm, reflecting traditional Turkmen design language associated with strength, protection, and continuity. Accents of ivory, soft camel, muted teal, and dark indigo add contrast and depth, while small animal and architectural motifs subtly woven into the field give the rug a storytelling quality typical of nomadic textiles. The wide borders, filled with angular diamonds and latch-hook patterns, frame the design with balance and structure. Its naturally aged patina softens the colours and enhances the rug's authenticity, making it a timeless piece that brings warmth, history, and bold character to any interior. Authentic vintage and antique Turkmen rugs are hand-knotted with wool. Each one is an exceptional work of art and one of a kind. Pictures are taken in natural light to portray the most realistic colours possible. Due to these rugs' handmade and preloved nature, slight imperfections and flaws are not defects. Our rugs are professionally restored, and the fringes secured, ensuring many more years of life. In addition, we advise using a rug pad with a grip back to keep your rug in position and smooth out any wrinkles from shipping. A rug pad will also safeguard your carpet from deterioration and, therefore, extend the life of your rug. Our rugs are professionally cleaned.
