Size: 4.10 x 3.1 ft. Origin: Balochistan Circa: 1950s Material: Pure Wool This antique Baloch tribal prayer rug originates from the Baluch weaving regions of eastern Persia and western Afghanistan, where nomadic and semi-nomadic weavers have produced distinctive rugs for generations. Woven in wool with a dense, durable structure, it features the characteristic mihrab prayer niche framed by stepped architectural lines and intricate geometric motifs symbolising protection and spirituality. The deep tones of burgundy, rust, and brown, accented with ivory details, reflect the natural dyes traditionally used by Baluch weavers. Compact in scale and rich in symbolism, this prayer rug was created for personal devotional use, embodying the cultural, religious, and artistic traditions of Baluch tribal life. Authentic vintage and antique Baloch rugs are hand-knotted with wool. Each one is an exceptional work of art and unique. Pictures are taken in natural light to portray the most realistic colours possible. Due to these rugs' handmade and preloved nature, slight imperfections and flaws are not defects. Our rugs are professionally restored, and the fringes secured, ensuring many more years of life. In addition, we advise using a rug pad with a grippy back to keep your rug in place and smooth out any wrinkles from shipping. Using a rug pad will also safeguard your carpet from deterioration and, therefore, extend the life of your rug. Our rugs are professionally cleaned.
