Vintage Scandinavian Tapestry 4'9" X 3'3"

Size: 4.9 x 3.3 ft. Origin: Scandinavia Circa: 1970s Material: Pure Wool This exquisite vintage Scandinavian woollen tapestry showcases a strikingly modernist design, characteristic of the mid-20th-century Nordic weaving tradition. The piece is handwoven in flatweave technique, with soft wool dyed in muted yet harmonious tones of lavender, indigo, dove grey, sage, and pale cream. Its abstract composition evokes painterly brushstrokes or the shifting forms of nature suggestive of mountains, clouds, or flowing water rendered in a distinctly Scandinavian minimalist aesthetic. The artistry lies in its balance between geometry and fluidity: bold angular passages of deep violet and charcoal are softened by sweeping gradients of pastel shades, creating movement and depth across the surface. Typical of Scandinavian textile art, this tapestry reflects a deep connection to natural landscapes while embracing modernist abstraction, making it equally suitable as a floor rug or a wall hanging. A rare find, this woollen tapestry embodies timeless Nordic craftsmanship, offering both functional use and an art piece of serene elegance. Authentic vintage and antique Scandinavian kilims are handwoven with wool. Each one is an exceptional work of art and unique. Pictures are taken in natural light to portray the most realistic colours possible. Due to the handmade and preloved nature of these rugs, slight imperfections and flaws are not considered defects. Our kilim rugs are professionally restored, and the fringes secured, ensuring many more years of life. Additionally, we recommend using a rug pad with a grippy back to keep your rug in place and to smooth out any wrinkles that may have occurred during shipping. Using a rug pad will also safeguard your carpet from deterioration and, therefore, extend the life of your rug. Our rugs are professionally cleaned.
