Vignettes at Tony's

Larry Horayne Review: https://larryhorayne.wordpress.com/2024/03/06/the-more-things-change-a-session-with-ed-marlo/ What if you could sit at the back table of Tony’s Restaurant and watch Ed Marlo share five powerful versions of his “Pocket Interchange” routine? Now you can. While digging through old tapes entrusted to me by John Racherbaumber, I found a 1989 session where Marlo—informally and brilliantly—explained five new versions of the classic Sadowitz effect. The tape was raw, sometimes vague, and incredibly real. I’ve studied Marlo for years, so when things got cryptic, I went sleuthing—through Cardfixes and The Olram File—to fill in the gaps. I recreated the entire experience, being filmed performing each version as if I were sitting right there with Marlo, following along, cards in hand. Subtitled for clarity, edited to feel like you're at the table. Then I called Bill Malone. What started as a chat turned into something more—stories, laughter, memories of his Thursday afternoon sessions with Marlo at Tony’s Italian Restaurant. These stories became Vignettes at Tony’s, a written journey through each version—paired with the tricks, yes—but more importantly, capturing the spirit of a student-mentor friendship, of sitting with giants and being part of a special session.
