The majority of Vietnamese coffee exports are mostly of the robusta variety, which sacrifices quality for higher yields and disease-resistance. However, as the world increasingly appreciates higher-quality coffees, more and more Vietnamese producers are growing arabica varieties and implementing modern farming and processing techniques. While these come at a higher cost, they also fetch higher prices when done well. The Mercafe Lotus Farm Cluster does this very well. Located in Cau Dat, a high-altitude coffee-growing region in central to southwestern Vietnam with volcanic soil and year-round cool weather, Lotus produces some of the finest coffees Vietnam has to offer. The cooperative provides agronomic assistance to its member farmers, invests in state-of-the-art processing techniques, and stores the export-ready coffee carefully in climate-controlled environments.  As a result of all of Lotus’s innovation and care, this delightful coffee has a pleasant acidity reminiscent of apricot, a dark chocolate-like silky body, and notes of hazelnut and nougat.
