Vienna Malt - Riverbend

Golden Toasty Elegance • Smooth Malt Depth • Classic Amber Lager Base Vienna Malt is the elegant middle ground between pale and Munich malts, prized for the gentle toasty warmth and golden-amber glow it gives classic continental lagers. Kilned slightly warmer than Pilsner malt, it develops light bready, toasted flavors while keeping the crisp, clean drinkability of a true base malt. With an extract potential of 35 PPG and a color of 4 °Lovibond, Vienna Malt adds noticeably more depth and color than pale malt without ever turning heavy or sweet. Its full enzyme package means it converts easily, even as the entire grain bill. Flavor & Aroma Profile Light toasty malt character Soft bready, lightly nutty notes Gentle golden-amber color contribution Smooth, clean malt sweetness Crisp, dry finish despite the added depth Used as a partial base, Vienna lends a subtle toasted warmth that rounds out pale recipes; used at 100%, it produces the smooth, continuously malty profile of a classic Vienna lager — rich enough to be interesting, dry enough to drink by the liter. Brewing ApplicationsVienna Malt is a staple ingredient in many classic amber lager and ale styles, including: Vienna Lager Märzen / Oktoberfest Festbier Kellerbier Amber Ale Mexican Amber Lager It is also a versatile upgrade in pale ales, cream ales, and blonde ales when a touch more malt character is wanted without crystal sweetness. Usage RecommendationsVienna Malt can make up to 100% of the grain bill. Smaller shares of 10–30% add toasty depth to pale styles, while an all-Vienna base is the traditional route to an authentic Vienna lager. Pair it with noble hops and a clean lager yeast for classic results, or blend it with Munich malt when you want to push the malt intensity further.
