Viburnum japonicum

Viburnum japonicum is a compact evergreen Viburnum with glossy, dark green foliage. The plant forms a dense structure, making it suitable for borders and screens. Flat clusters of fragrant white flowers appear in spring. These are followed by bright red fruits that add seasonal contrast. The plant grows well in semi-shade with moist, well-drained soil. This rare Viburnum plant remains uncommon in U.S. gardens. It is not the same as Viburnum awabuki or Viburnum odoratissimum. Gardeners value its strong form and consistent evergreen growth throughout the year.
