Oaxacan Venado Ruffle Midi

This midi dress is traditional to Tijaltepec, Oaxaca. The fabric is organic linen made with delicate fabric details throughout the entire garment. The chest is pleaded and stitched by hand with an animal design on the relief of the cloth.   The dress is made with cotton (often calico or linen). They feature motifs like deer, birds, plants, or insects. These garments take up to six weeks to complete.   The name “Pepenado” derives from the Otomí word hwání, meaning “to choose,” highlighting the precision required for selecting stitches and folds     This is an original Pepenado Fruncido masterpiece originating from Oaxaca, Mx.   One size, measurements are as follows: (S/M) Bust: 38” Hips: 52” Length: 47”
