Pet-safe Candles Looking for candles that are safe for dogs, cats, birds, and other pets? Candles made with paraffin wax, which is a petroleum byproduct, can release harmful chemicals like toluene and benzene when burned. These can irritate a pet’s respiratory system. Our candles are paraffin-free. They’re also lead-free. Some candles use metal-core wicks, often made with lead, which can be toxic to pets if they ingest any particles. Our candles use all-natural coconut apricot wax, which is safe for both humans and animals.
