Frequently Asked Questions Q1: What parasites does SelaSpot protect dogs and cats from? Ans: SelaSpot helps protect pets from several internal and external parasites. In dogs, it controls fleas, ear mites, sarcoptic mange, American dog ticks, and prevents heartworm disease. In cats,s it controls fleas, ear mites, roundworms, hookworms, and helps prevent heartworm disease when used monthly as prescribed. Q2: How often should SelaSpot be applied to pets? Ans: Apply SelaSpot about once a month for consistent parasite protection. This monthly application is great for preventing heartworm disease and controlling flea infestations by killing adult fleas and preventing their eggs from hatching. Plus, sticking to a regular schedule helps you handle any recurring parasite issues more effectively. Q3: Can I bathe my pet after applying SelaSpot? Ans: Yes, pets can be bathed after applying SelaSpot. Dogs may be bathed or shampooed two hours after treatment without affecting flea or heartworm protection. Cats can be bathed two hours after treatment for fleas and twenty-four hours after treatment for heartworm protection. Q4: Why might I still see fleas after starting SelaSpot treatment? Ans: Fleas may still appear briefly after starting treatment because immature flea stages,s such as pupae, remain in the environment. These stages are not killed immediately. Once they emerge as adults and contact treated pets, they are killed, which gradually reduces the infestation. Q5: Can SelaSpot be used with other pet medications? Ans: Yes, clinical studies indicate selamectin products have been safely used with many common veterinary treatments. These include vaccines, antibiotics, anthelmintics, antiparasitic medications, steroids, collars, shampoos, and dips. Pet owners should still inform veterinarians about all medications their pet receives.
