Vecchia Romagna “Etichetta Nera” Italian Brandy 750ml (40% ABV)

This is Italy’s benchmark everyday brandy—classic, smooth, and unmistakably traditional. “Etichetta Nera” delivers soft caramel, dried fruit, and gentle oak with an easy, rounded profile. A heritage-driven, highly versatile brandy that has remained a staple for decades. Vecchia Romagna traces its origins to 1820 in Bologna, making it one of Italy’s oldest and most recognized spirits. It is produced from Trebbiano grapes, a traditional Italian variety also used in Cognac production. Key production elements: Distillation combines column still and Charentais-style pot still methods Aged in oak casks to develop aroma and softness Blended to achieve consistency and balance The name “Etichetta Nera” (Black Label) represents the core expression of the house style, known for accessibility and balance rather than heavy aging. The iconic triangular bottle, introduced in 1939, has become a defining visual signature of the brand.  Tasting Profile Nose: Dried fruit, vanilla, light caramel, and subtle floral notes Palate: Soft and rounded, with caramel, baked apple, honey, and mild spice Finish: Smooth and medium-length, with gentle oak and lingering sweetness Quick Overview Attribute Details ABV / Proof 40% ABV (80 Proof) Origin / Region Emilia-Romagna, Italy Producer Vecchia Romagna (Gruppo Montenegro) Base Material Trebbiano grapes Aging / Maturation Oak cask aging (multi-style distillation) Special Attributes Historic Italian brandy; iconic triangular bottle Aromas & Flavors Caramel, dried fruit, vanilla, spice Style / Identity Smooth, approachable, classic European brandy Cocktail Recipes Italian Brandy Sidecar – 2 oz Vecchia Romagna – 1 oz orange liqueur – 0.75 oz lemon juice Bright, balanced, and slightly richer than Cognac-based versions Brandy Espresso (Italian Style) – 1 oz Vecchia Romagna – 1 shot espresso – Sugar to taste Simple, warming, and very traditional Serving & Occasion Best enjoyed neat, lightly warmed in the glass, or as a digestivo.
