FAQs Does the whole-body vibration machine really work? Some research does show that whole-body vibration may help improve muscle strength and that it may help with weight loss when you also cut back on calories. Whole-body vibration may also have a role beyond sports and fitness. What are the cons of vibration therapy? Repeated exposure to vibrations is also associated with an increased risk of developing: cardiovascular disease. digestive problems. nerve damage. headaches. cancer. What does a VBX wellness machine do? The VBX 3500 Whole Body Vibration Platform is an exercise machine that vibrates your whole body hundreds of times per second, which can help with flexibility, soreness and weight loss What is whole-body vibration? Whole Body Vibration (WBV) offers a myriad of benefits of that has been researched and proven. WBV boosts energy, mood, sleep, and libido, all while increasing muscle strength, bone density, balance, and flexibility. It helps you lose weight and aids in the process of maintaining results. WBV offers dramatic physical therapy for many joint and mobility issues. A well-documented therapy WBV was developed by Swedish inventor Gustav Zander in the late 1800s, with the aim of improving health and well-being. Hundreds of studies from the medical profession to Nasa have proven the value of doing WBV on a regular basis. Today, vibration plates are used by NASA astronauts and most professional sports teams. Many athletes, celebrities, and health & wellness advocates have them in their homes to get (and stay) trim and feel great. A recent systematic review of eighteen research articles about using WBV with obese patients has shown increased metabolism, weight and fat loss, along with other improvements in other health issues known to be related to obesity - such as heart health, peripheral and central circulation, glucose regulation, and inflammation levels. WBV is a huge plus in any weight-loss program. How does it help me lose weight? WBV can be an intense workout, and, like any workout, this will increase your metabolic rate so that you burn more calories and lose weight more easily. The workout will build lean muscle mass that will continue to burn more calories all day long. Lean muscle mass can account for 60 percent of your energy and calorie expenditure while at rest. WBV raises serotonin (and other important weight loss hormone) levels in your brain, which has a powerful anti-depressant effect. Early research with animals showed increases in serotonin and thousands of stories from happy users support this early evidence. With your mental state happier and calmer, it will be easier for you to lose weight, eat properly, and have the motivation and inspiration to follow the plan. WBV gives you strength and energy. So, when you move your body more often due to having more energy and being in a better emotional and mental state, this all leads to burning more calories and more long-term success. WBV lowers cortisol, which is a major stress and aging hormone that promotes fat production and storage. We call this "scarcity mode." Lowering cortisol levels helps promote fat-burning and proper fat metabolism. WBV also promotes joint health in numerous ways, so that you have greater mobility and are able to move better and exercise more. What can the machine do for me? Tone and firm muscles: Hundreds of muscle contractions per minute create an effective workout to tone muscles.   Lose weight and increase lean muscle mass: Make your body more fuel efficient by burning more calories throughout the entire day, not just during a workout. The more calories the body is able to burn, the higher the potential is for dramatic weight loss.   Improve flexibility, range of motion, balance, and mobility: The vibration causes your muscles to react to the imbalance, strengthening muscles while increasing flexibility in muscles, joints, and ligaments.   Fight cellulite: Toning muscles and increasing lymphatic drainage can help fight off cellulite.   Tone and firm skin: Tighter muscles and an increased circulation can help to tighten the skin.   Increase bone density: This can prevent further bone loss and to help combat osteoporosis.   Increase circulation and lymphatic drainage: Helps to cleanse toxic buildup from the body and increase oxygenation in the blood.   Reduce pain and stiffness: Increased circulation, lymphatic drainage, and increased muscle strength may alleviate symptoms of fibromyalgia, arthritis, and other pain.   Elevate HGH and serotonin while decreasing cortisol (a hormone produced by stress): Elevated levels of HGH can help the body heal and repair after injury or surgery, while elevated levels of serotonin helps to create a feeling of well-being. Decrease in cortisol can reduce belly fat caused by stress.   Neuromuscular re-education (when applicable): Some examples are MS, CP, or after a stroke.   Rehabilitation from injury: Re-strengthen your muscles after injury, illness, or surgery. What is triangular oscillation vibration? The Triangular Oscillation System (TOS) vibrates at the correct megahertz(s) from a medical and body-toning standpoint. It also uses a lift mechanism along with vibration. It vibrates in the 30HZ - 60Hz range. The TOS system used by the VBX Whole Body Vibration (WBV) Machine generates systematic involuntary muscle contraction with less G-force than the piston systems. This stimulates receptors in the Achilles tendon called "golgi bodies," which stimulate nerve receptors that track up to the cerebellum (the part of the brain that is responsible for balance). This pleasant rocking and rolling action causes the brain to tell the muscles of your body to actively contract to maintain its equilibrium, thus creating a therapeutic and muscle toning workout. Is it safe? Yes. VBX Wellness Machines distribute Oscillating Vibration Technology, which is considered the safest form of vibration. Whether you’re physically fit or a non-exerciser; overweight; suffering from stiffness, aches and pains; or recovering from an injury, almost anyone can enjoy the benefits of this machine. Is it good for the heart? Yes. The WBV raises your heart rate slightly along with blood oxygen levels. There is scientific data that tells us overall heart rate will improve over time. Can it reduce cellulite? Yes. Studies have shown that cellulite may be significantly reduced through WBV. This is achieved through improving the body’s ability to drain toxins and lymphatic waste by promoting better circulation. This, in turn, reduces undesirable swelling in those areas of the body affected by cellulite. Note: being properly hydrated will help this process. Will I sweat during the workout? Yes. Any exercise or physical activity may cause an increase in body temperature and metabolism. This, in turn, may cause you to perspire so you may sweat during your WBV workout. Is it like a treadmill? No, it is a gentle workout that is not hard on your joints. Instead of walking, you simply stand or perform simple exercises on a moveable vibrating plate that encourages muscle contractions using your body’s own weight. Can I do it longer than 10 minutes? 10 minutes a day on this machine is like a one-hour workout in the gym. Doing this every second day is enough to see great results! Although, depending on the speeds you are using and your personal health profile, you may be able to endure some extra time. Can I use it everyday? It is advisable to take at least one or two days off per week to let your muscles recover from the workouts. But again, this would depend on the intensity and duration of your workouts, as well as your individual health. Is VBX Wellness credible? Absolutely. From NASA to professional sports’ teams to chiropractors and physiotherapists, VBX's WBV has been accepted and is being employed throughout the world. Its proven benefits are even detailed in medical journals! Is vibration therapy safe? There is mounting scientific evidence through both animal and clinical studies that low-level, mechanical signals, delivered via WBV machines, can stimulate bone formation, assist in weight loss, reverse back and joint pain and arthritis, and assist in overall increased strength and mobility. However, just because some vibration may be beneficial, does not mean that all vibration is the same. More vibration is not necessarily better. One should always be concerned that “too much of a good thing” may be true in mechanical stimulation, such as WBV, as well. Think of it like this: just because one aspirin can help doesn’t mean that you should take 50 aspirin per day. Exposing the harmful G-force myth Some WBV machines claim that more G-force is better, boasting upwards to 17.4 G's of acceleration and beyond. Before we dispel this potentially harmful myth, let's briefly define G-force and look at international safety standards along with common sense. One “G” is equal to Earth’s gravitational field, or an acceleration of 9.8 meters per second. Frequency corresponds to the number of cycles delivered per second. Levels of vibration are typically considered as a function of magnitude (G-force), which depends on the frequency (Hz), amplitude (usually measured in millimeters), and the weight of the person. The duration of exposure (time) and type of vibration (pivotal/oscillating, linear/vertical, etc.) are also important factors. Pivotal or oscillating motions are much gentler and beneficial than the pounding of an "up and down" vertical or linear machine, which can be hard on the back and joints. The acceleration magnitudes used in some WBV machines can be as high as 17.4 G's, or even 22.0 G's, which is well beyond the limits recommended for human tolerance by ISO 2631 and OSHA standards. These magnitudes can be considered dangerous to use, especially for the elderly or young. The ridiculously high G-forces are even beyond the safety limits set by NASA and the U.S. Air Force! Consider for example that the space shuttle is calibrated to stay close to only 3 G's on the takeoff and re-entry into the earth's atmosphere. Fighter pilots need special anti-G suits to withstand G-forces over 8 or 9 G's, so to prevent the pilots from fainting. It's generally considered that the average person could not survive a sustained G-force of over 15 G's for even a few minutes. It simply defies safety standards and even common sense to use such high G-forces.
