Vanderson Schaeffer "Sartory" Ipe Cello Bow, Ebony & Silver

This finely made cello bow by Vanderson Schaeffer pays tribute to the powerful and elegant models of Eugène Sartory, faithfully capturing the balance, strength, and clean articulation that defined Sartory’s enduring legacy. Handcrafted in Brasil, this bow is made from ipe, a dense and durable tropical hardwood that offers tonal warmth and structural resilience, making it a sustainable and reliable alternative to traditional pernambuco. The bow’s round ipe stick is robust and responsive, delivering excellent tracking and control across the full range of the cello. With articulate bounce and a generous tonal core, it supports both lyrical phrasing and bold projection. The ebony frog, mounted in silver, features a Parisian eye and a capped button — elegant finishing touches that reflect both tradition and quality. Schaeffer’s craftsmanship is clean and confident, making this bow an ideal choice for the advancing student, working professional, or discerning player looking for a dependable, high-performance bow that honors French design with a Brasilian spirit. Since starting in 1998, he has risen to work on Arcos Brasil’s Special Edition and master copy bows, often bearing the stamp “V. Schaeffer – Brasil.” His work has garnered acclaim for clear tone, reliable projection, and superb balance—from violin and viola to cello bows—including gold- and silver-mounted models in both pernambuco and ipe.
