The Value Line Multi Purpose Forming Kit of 43 contains 42 steel tools mounted on a wood stand making for a total of 43 items. It is an impressive amount of steel metalsmithing tools in one economical package. All the punches are matching to the blocks and, like the blocks, are the best quality we have ever seen for dapping tools made in India. Please note: The polish on these tools is also first rate, with the only exception being the single item that is chrome plated and not carbon tool steel, the bench anvil, which is unfortunately already showing some pits in the units we inspected. All the other tools are polished tool steel. Carbon tool steel is much harder than stainless steel and that is why it is used in rolling mills and tools like these that are used for forming other metals. Carbon tool steel will rust if left unprotected to the elements. For protection from rust use a oily rag to cover your tools or spray on a protective coating like Starrett M1 All Purpose Lubricant (see below).
