Vaginal pH Test Strips

How Empress Organics Vaginal pH Test Strips Work The first thing to understand about vaginal pH is that when it’s healthy, it protects you from infection. pH refers to the vagina’s acidity level. A pH below 7 is acidic, while a pH above 7 is alkaline. A normal vaginal pH is usually less than 4.5. The lower the number, the more acidic the vaginal environment will be. A healthy vaginal pH is between 3.5 to 4.5 and that indicates that the vagina is populated by good bacteria (without overgrowth of the bad bacteria that can cause odor and irritation. An elevated pH means that the healthy flora of the vagina may struggle to survive, while harmful bacteria thrive. When your pH is unhealthy, the two key signs are odor and discharge. Two common problems women struggle with when they have unhealthy vaginal pH are bacterial vaginosis (BV) yeast infection which becomes unpleasant due to the itching, odor, and excessive discharge. BV can produce a fishy smelling, milky discharge, and yeast overgrowth can produce a cottage cheese-like discharge. Our vaginal pH Test measures how acidic or alkaline your vagina is on the pH scale. A healthy vaginal pH range is between 3.5 to 4. When your vaginal pH is above 4, it is less acidic, making it easy for bacteria and yeast to thrive. If you are experiencing itching, burning, and discomfort while your vagina has a pH of 4.5-5.0, you may be experiencing a yeast infection. If your vaginal pH is 5.0 or above, you may have BV or another infection that requires treatment from a doctor. It’s important to balance our pH level, because when our body is acidic we can experience reduced energy levels, poor digestion, bone degeneration, muscle mass loss, & even insulin sensitivity leading to weight gain. Not to mention the long list of diseases which can thrive in an acidic, inflamed, free radical ridden environment. However, when your body is in alkaline balance it can detox, releasing many of the nasties our bodies can retain when acidic. Antioxidants take care of free radicals so we have a healthy body free from sickness & disease, leaving us feeling energized, refreshed and revitalized.
