Vadia - 1 Remains

In the fall of 2014, I explored the Honey Island Swamp. The “Vadia” scene is of a little inlet off the West Pearl River. The cypress’s last needles of the season, tinged with gold, and a few broad green tupelo leaves hang off the thinner trunks, signifying autumn. The reflective streaking in the water is caused by the fallen leaves floating beneath the surface. The house on the right is a bit blurry – that’s because the homes are tied together, but the rope is moving slightly during the course of the exposure. The lived-in quality of the fisherman’s house captured my attention, the way the colors on the plastic buckets play off the colors in the sky and the gold of the cypress. I’d been out all day looking for a location, and I came to this spot that I first discovered canoeing years earlier. I mounted my tripod, burying the legs down in the sandy bottom of the 10 feet deep waterway. I positioned my camera, checked the edges of the frame, and opened the shutter. The light came primarily from the right side of the frame, with a raking pass across the foreground and a position to highlight from the background. Leaving the shutter open, I turned my lights off for a minute and let the moon expose the sky. Signed and numbered limited edition photographs. Prices for the photographs depend on size and the number of photographs remaining in the edition. Packaging - Unframed photograph only To decrease potential damage to the photograph during shipping and handling, the photograph is rolled into a double-walled protective packing tube for safe transport. All photographs are guaranteed for safe delivery. If your photograph arrives damaged, we will replace it.
