Utricularia graminifolia

Utricularia graminifolia is a fascinating carnivorous plant native to Southeast Asia. Unlike many carnivorous plants, this species can grow both in shallow water and in very wet soil, making it a unique addition to any collection. It produces beautiful flowers in shades of blue, purple, and pink, and is one of the few bladderworts known for its blue flower coloration. Its bright green, grass-like leaves form a lush carpet as the plant spreads across the surface of wet media. Hidden beneath the leaves are hundreds of tiny carnivorous traps that capture microscopic organisms and small aquatic prey. These bladder traps are among the most complex structures found in the plant kingdom and help the plant obtain additional nutrients. Utricularia graminifolia grows quickly when provided with bright light and consistently wet conditions. It thrives in shallow trays of water and can spread rapidly through its thin underground runners. Plant Size: Approximately 1" unpotted plug. Growing Notes: Keep the soil consistently wet or waterlogged. Grows well in shallow trays of water. Prefers bright light for best growth and flowering. Excellent for terrariums, bog gardens, and shallow aquatic setups. May be planted in a pot with extra space for water, as this species enjoys very wet conditions. This easy-to-grow bladderwort is perfect for beginners looking to explore the fascinating world of carnivorous plants.
