Vello Wireless ShutterBoss 4.0 Remote Timer and Trigger for Select Canon Cameras

The Vello Wireless ShutterBoss 4.0 Remote Timer and Trigger is a wireless remote shutter release designed for select Canon cameras, giving photographers off-camera control over shutter triggering along with programmable timer functions for time-lapse, long exposure, and interval shooting. It’s aimed at landscape, astro, and macro photographers who need precise, hands-free shutter control to avoid camera shake or to automate repetitive shooting sequences. The remote operates wirelessly, allowing photographers to trigger the shutter from a distance without a cable tethering the remote to the camera, useful for self-portraits, wildlife photography where approaching the camera would disturb a subject, or any situation where standing at the camera isn’t practical. Wireless operation also eliminates the cable snag and connector wear issues that can affect wired remotes over repeated use. A core feature of the ShutterBoss line is its intervalometer functionality, allowing photographers to program settings such as exposure time, interval between shots, number of exposures, and delay before the sequence begins, enabling automated time-lapse sequences and long-exposure bulb shooting without manually triggering each frame. This programmability makes it a practical tool for time-lapse photography, star trail sequences, and other long-duration or repetitive shooting scenarios where manual triggering would be impractical or introduce inconsistency. The trigger includes a standard shutter release button for immediate manual triggering in addition to its programmed timer modes, giving photographers flexibility to use the remote for both simple remote triggering and more complex automated sequences within the same device. Build quality centers on a compact, portable handheld transmitter paired with a small receiver that attaches to the camera’s remote port, keeping the system lightweight and easy to pack for field use. Because this remote is designed for “select Canon cameras,” compatibility depends on the specific Canon camera model and its remote port or connector type, so photographers should confirm compatibility with their specific Canon body before use.
