Profoto Softgrid for OCF Softbox (1×3′)

The Profoto Softgrid for OCF Softbox (1×3′) is a light-shaping accessory designed to attach to Profoto’s OCF 1×3′ strip softbox, giving photographers additional control over the spread and direction of light beyond what the softbox’s diffusion alone provides. It’s built for photographers who want a more contained, directional beam from their strip softbox, particularly useful for rim, hair, and accent lighting applications. A softgrid, similar in function to an egg crate grid, fits over the front of the softbox to narrow the effective spread of light, reducing spill onto unwanted areas of a scene such as a background, adjacent light modifiers, or the camera lens itself. This added control is especially valuable when using a strip softbox for accent or rim lighting, where precise placement of light along a subject’s edge matters more than broad, even coverage across a wide area. By narrowing the light’s spread, the softgrid increases the directional quality of the softbox’s output, helping photographers achieve a more contained, controlled light pattern compared to relying on the softbox’s front diffusion panel alone. This is particularly useful in multi-light setups where preventing light spill from one modifier onto another light source or onto the background is important for maintaining a clean, intentional lighting design. Construction typically consists of a fabric or grid-like material sized specifically to fit over the front of Profoto’s OCF 1×3′ softbox, attaching via the softbox’s existing framework, likely with hook-and-loop or similar quick-attach fastening consistent with Profoto’s OCF accessory design philosophy. As a dedicated accessory for Profoto’s OCF 1×3′ softbox, the softgrid is intended to be used specifically with that modifier rather than as a standalone or universal light-shaping tool.
