USAutomatic 520001 Solar Battery Controller - 10A

Solar Battery Controller for 12 and 24VDC Battery Applications The USAutomatic 520001 is a 10-amp PWM solar battery controller designed to charge 12VDC or 24VDC batteries using a solar panel or DC transformer input. It is used primarily with USAutomatic gate operators but functions with any gate operator or application requiring solar-based battery charging, including systems from other manufacturers. Power source input accepts USAutomatic solar panels (520026, 520028, 520030, 520031) or the USAutomatic DC transformer (520009). Lithium-ion batteries are not supported; compatible battery types are SLA, FLD, GEL, and AGM. The controller auto-detects 12 or 24VDC battery voltage on connection and manages the full charge cycle through PWM mode, transitioning to float charging at 14.2VDC (12V systems) or 27.6VDC (24V systems). An automatic cutoff engages below 10.8VDC to protect the battery from deep discharge. The LCD screen displays live battery voltage and charge current readings. A USB outlet provides up to 1.5 amps for auxiliary device power. Battery connections accept an Anderson Power Plug or direct wire leads (14-18 gauge). Power source inputs accept a 2.5mm DC plug or direct wire leads (14-18 gauge). Do not install in a sealed enclosure with flooded lead-acid batteries. Key Features PWM charging mode with automatic transition to float charging at 14.2VDC (12V) or 27.6VDC (24V) Auto-detects 12 or 24VDC battery; 24VDC charging requires a 24V solar panel input Accepts solar panels up to 130 watts or USAutomatic DC transformer 520009 LCD display shows live battery voltage and charge current readings Automatic battery cutoff below 10.8VDC prevents deep discharge Battery reverse connection and reverse discharge protection built in USB power outlet, 1.5A max, for auxiliary device power Anderson Power Plug and direct wire lead (14-18 gauge) battery connections Technical Specifications Part Number: 520001 Charge Current: 10 amps Compatible Battery Voltage: 12VDC or 24VDC (auto-detected) Compatible Battery Types: SLA, FLD, GEL, AGM (Lithium-ion not supported) Charging Mode: PWM Float Charge Voltage: 14.2VDC (12V system) / 27.6VDC (24V system) Automatic Cutoff: Below 10.8VDC Max Solar Panel Input: 130 watts DC Adapter Input: 20VDC @ 1.2A max Self-Consumption: Less than 9mA USB Output: 1.5A max Battery Connection: Anderson Power Plug or direct wire leads 14-18 gauge Power Source Input: 2.5mm DC plug or direct wire leads 14-18 gauge Compatible Power Sources: Solar panels. USAutomatic solar panels 520026, 520028, 520030, 520031; DC transformer 520009 Display: LCD with voltage and charge current readout Dimensions: 6.2 in x 2.9 in x 1.06 in Weight: 5.65 oz Warranty: 1 year Manufacturer: USAutomatic Condition: New Conclusion The 520001 handles the full charge cycle automatically from initial charge through float maintenance, making it a low-intervention option for solar-powered gate operator installations. It works with USAutomatic operators and any other system requiring solar or DC transformer battery charging at 12 or 24VDC. Confirm your solar panel output does not exceed 130 watts and that your battery type is SLA, FLD, GEL, or AGM before installing. Installation / User Manual
