Urethane Casting Resin- 60 Shore D

This 60 Shore D hardness Urethane Casting Resin is well suited for demanding industrial applications. Extremely tough, this urethane casting resin system exhibits very high tensile and tear strength, excellent elongation, and good abrasion resistance. Easily pour this amber, lower viscosity material in open casts and closed molds to produce incredibly durable foundry tools, patterns, or parts. What Is #3460 Urethane Casting Resin?   #3460 Urethane Casting Resin is a 60 Shore D, amber, two-part casting urethane for demanding industrial applications. It is extremely tough, with very high tear and tensile strength and excellent abrasion resistance, making it well suited for foundry tools, patterns, and production parts that need to hold up under heavy use.   Why Choose #3460 Urethane Casting Resin?   The 60 Shore D hardness and fibrous toughness of #3460 make it the right choice when a casting needs to survive repeated impacts, abrasion, and stress without cracking or tearing. Its high tear strength sets it apart from harder, more brittle castings. For bright white cosmetic parts where stiffness and appearance matter more than toughness, the 75 Shore D #3475 is a better fit. For flexible parts and molds, the Shore A urethanes are the right choice.   What Are the Best Applications for #3460 Urethane Casting Resin?   #3460 Urethane Casting Resin is designed for durable foundry tools, patterns, and industrial parts that need toughness, tear strength, and abrasion resistance. It is particularly well suited to applications where the casting will see repeated mechanical stress.   How Should #3460 Urethane Casting Resin Be Used for Best Results?   #3460 Urethane Casting Resin mixes at 100:44 by weight. Mix thoroughly and pour slowly to release air bubbles. Avoid water and all moisture contamination, and do not use PVA Release Film, wooden stir sticks, or paper containers. Use #2333 Plastic Paint Stirrers and release with at least four layers of #4121 Non-Silicone High Temp Paste Wax. #3460 cures at room temperature with full properties developing in 7 days at 75 degrees F. For an oven post cure, allow the casting to set 12 to 18 hours at room temperature, then oven cure 8 hours at 150 to 165 degrees F and cool before demolding.   Technical Specifications Type: Two-part urethane casting resin, amber, 60 Shore D Mix ratio: 100:44 by weight Working time (4 fl oz mass at 77 degrees F): 26 minutes Cure: 7 days at 75 degrees F for full properties; optional oven post cure 8 hours at 150 to 165 degrees F after 12 to 18 hour room-temperature set Do not use with PVA Release Film, wooden sticks, or paper containers; release with four layers of #4121 wax   Available Sizes and SKUs #3460-A - Quart kit (Part A quart, Part B pint) #3460-B - Gallon kit     When mixed thoroughly, pour the urethane slowly to aid the release of air bubbles. When using Urethane Casting Resin – 60 Shore D kits, avoid water and all types of moisture contamination. Do not use any urethane kit with PVA Release Film, and do not mix with wooden mixing sticks or in paper mixing containers. #2333 Plastic Paint Stirrers for Urethanes are recommended. To ensure a proper release from a mold, use at least four layers of #4121 Non-Silicone High Temp Paste Wax. #3460 Urethane Casting Resin – 60 Shore D can completely cure at room temperature, but can also be heat cured up to 165°F. Typically, full properties of this urethane casting resin develop in 7 days at room temperature (75°F). Temperatures below 75°F will lengthen the cure time, and if the ambient temperature is below 60°F, additional heat may be necessary for proper cure. Allow casting to set for 12 to 18 hours at room temperature before an oven post cure of 8 hours at 150°F to 165°F. Allow to cool before demolding.
