When rowing the resistance is due to the effect of fluid drag acting on the boat. Go faster, resistance increases. Go slower resistance decreases. Importantly, the user chooses; regardless of age, gender, size or fitness. The patented WaterFlywheel emulates this naturally self-paced benefit of rowing. This is a workout you can start benefitting from immediately, regardless of experience! Silent Flywheel: Because the patented WaterFlywheel replicates the same physical dynamics as rowing, its operation is just as silent. When the handle is pulled, only the soothing sound of rushing water is heard. The frame also assists in dampening noise and vibration, making this one of the smoothest machines on the market. Balanced Tear-drop Handle: The handle is made of aluminum for strength and lightness, with a tear-drop shape that fits comfortably into the palm of the hand to minimize wrist torque – a common cause of tendonitis. Because of its strength and lightness, the drive strap in Cherrywood (S4) is high-density polyester webbing, guided by nylon pulleys. The drive strap does not wear and is maintenance-free, requiring no messy lubrication. Ergonomically Contoured Seat: Supported on all four corners and ergonomically designed to provide maximum comfort, the seat is incredibly stable, gliding smoothly on eight urethane wheels. Floating Heel-Rest Design: The Rowing Machine’s footboard incorporates the all-new Floating Heel-Rest design. The cup of the heel-rest follows the heel as it rises from the footboard providing stability and comfort from the beginning to end of each stroke. The heel-rest position is adjusted simply by pressing the central button to disengage the lock pins securing the footpads. Tank: The tank is made from polycarbonate, one of the strongest plastics available. It is virtually indestructible. The tank is sealed and can be filled with municipal water via a small opening closed by a stopper. This water typically contains enough chlorine to remain clear for some time. After exposure to light, the chlorine will degrade and the chlorine tablets included free, should be added periodically. Dual Rails: Dual rails are featured on all WaterRowers. While attractive, they are designed to absorb sound and vibration, making for a smooth and silent stroke. These rails are part of a frame that can support over 2,200lbs of weight! Spragg Clutch: The key to the WaterRower Oxbridge in Cherrywood (S4)’s smooth stroke is its “spragg” clutch that engages instantaneously. Unlike other clutches that produce a jerky or jarring impact somewhere during the stroke, the spragg clutch has no lag in pickup, which means no lower back pain for you. NO JERKING OR JARRING There is no jerkiness or jarring which is often associated with conventional mechanical rowing machines making the exercise unpleasant; only smooth even load, kind to the body, and relaxing to the mind. SMOOTH CONNECTION There is no “solid” connection between user and the moving water, simply an immersed paddle which dampens out any detrimental mechanical feel Providing some “give” is essential for accommodating bad or developing technique, lessening the risk of injury. EVEN STROKE A uniform stroke is essential to spreading the work more evenly over the muscle groups, working the muscle groups in proportion to their strength, optimizing exercise benefit while reducing risk of injury. [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”48716″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]HOW IT WORKS: THE WATERFLYWHEEL The WaterRower’s unique WaterFlywheel has been designed to reproduce the precise physical dynamics of a moving boat; the surest way to replicate the physiological benefits and aesthetic pleasure of rowing. SELF REGULATED RESISTANCE Like rowing, the WaterFlywheel does not apply resistance to you, you apply work to it; you are the engine. By the “rule of cubes”, the amount of work you apply dictates the speed at which you row. From a gentle paddle to a “give it your all” workout, you are in control When rowing, remember, you are the engine. The amount of work you do is dependent on you, not on the machine. The more work you do, the more resistance/drag you can overcome, and the faster you move. The speed which you can maintain is dependent on the level of work you can maintain and, again, is limited only by you. Row harder and you go faster, row easier and you go slower. This is the self-paced nature of the WaterRower and Rowing and allows Anyone to row regardless of age, sex, size of level of fitness. RULE OF CUBES The resistance in rowing is due to the drag of the water moving over the hull of the boat by the laws of hydrodynamics, this resistance/drag varies to the cube of the velocity/speed. The rule of cubes therefore dictates that a doubling of the speed of the boat will require an eight-fold increase in resistance. Like rowing, the WaterFlywheel’s resistance is increased by increasing speed. If you want more resistance then try to go faster. The outcome is that the resistance when rowing is infinite and infinitely variable.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”48715″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]THE PERFECT EXERCISE:[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]WORKS 84% OF YOUR MUSCLE MASS The rowing stroke uses 84% of the Muscle Mass. From the tips of the fingers holding the handle/oars, to the balls of the feet connected to the footboard/boat, all the muscles between these two points contribute to the rowing stroke. By maximizing the muscle mass contributing to the exercise in this way, the WaterRower is unrivalled in benefit derived per unit of time. Other common aerobic exercise equipment such as treadmills, cycles, ellipticals, even other rowing machines, use far less muscle mass, burn fewer calories, and generate less exercise benefit.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]JOINT FRIENDLY Rowing is the best exercise for arthritis. Rowing moves the joints through a full range of motion and does so with minimal impact and no body weight on the joints. Making it one of the best exercises for joint pain sufferers. Rowing is a seated exercise removing the weight of the body from the injury-prone joints of the ankle, hip and knees. The load placed on the joints is controlled by the user’s effort when rowing, not their body weight. Rowing is suitable for all, young or old, male or female, big or small, fit or unfit.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]LOW IMPACT Rowing moves the joints through a full range of motion, from legs totally extended to totally contracted and arms totally contracted to totally extended. Moving the joints through a full range of motion aids joint lubrication, joint mobility and overall Joint Health. Rowing is a smooth, flowing action involving little to no impact on the joints. Note – Many mechanical rowers are jerky and jarring on the joints, and fail to emulate the smoothness of rowing and the WaterRower.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]RELAXING TO THE MIND Harmony evolves from a natural balance of elements. The WaterRower blends the tranquility of moving water, the warmth of wood, and the rhythm of motion. These qualities combine to provide a naturally pleasurable activity. Invigorating the body while relaxing the mind. Composed to capture the aesthetics of rowing, the WaterRower is enjoyable to use. The calming tones and smooth action encourage the user from stroke to stroke. The symphony of these elements engages the user with a satisfaction which should be experienced.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]BURN UP TO 1000 CALORIES PER HOUR Maximize Gain, Minimize Time – rowing does so with a far lower perceived level of exertion than other aerobic exercises. Many exercise machines claim to be King when it comes to calorie consumption rates. The truth about calorie consumption, however, is that it relates to YOUR ability to produce the work, not the machines To burn 800 calories per hour, for example, on a treadmill, bike, elliptical, etc requires a very high (almost unsustainable) intensity of exercise By spreading work over a wide range of muscles, rowing consumes calories in more muscles, allowing a high calorie consumption within the user’s limits of fatigue. Other exercises, recruiting fewer muscles, require far higher intensities or exercise to achieve the same calorie consumptions as rowing.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=”64px”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
