Umbra - Black Iron Star Ring - Dark Fantasy Jewelry

A black ring hammered and carved from iron into a smooth star. Perfect for a lover of the night. Maker's Note (5/2024): Umbra is Latin for shadow. There's always been something hidden, something mysterious about the harsh gradient of light we see when an object moves in front of a light source. I like to think there's a hidden world contained in that darkness. A world that's intricate and beautiful. Just as rich as the one we inhabit with its own uniqueness. It's how I've learned to see the darkness in other people. I cannot sit atop any horse and shout decrees. I cannot blame or shame any other person for doing the things they have done in pursuit of survival. In order to save themselves or the ones they love. Or even the actions they took in attempt to be loved or to break free of some restraint. Contained in each of our actions is a seed of remarkableness. One that is born from our needs and can grow quite strangely to a passerby. For our behaviors and our patterns develop in response to the light. We will grow tangentially if that means we can gain access to the life that is warmth and energy. We may even learn to continuously pick ourselves up and move to better places far too often. Some of us may develop thorns or poisonous sap to deter predators. Each adaptation is beautiful and endless— even if it's unpleasant. This is how I see our shadow. Something to be welcomed and loved. It is not until we begin to appreciate where we came from that my idea of growth can happen. Our past has taught us so much. It has transformed our naivete into realism. Realism does not mean we must be harsh at all times. Many shadows are subtle— and even some of the harsher shadows can create beautiful scenes that we all enjoy. I believe our shadows contain a great deal of sensory flavor. And I believe that as we move forward and begin to choose our own light, that this flavor becomes a subtle note. A reminder of what was. Not what is.
