UltraClear Potassium Permanganate Liquid – Pond Water Clarity & External Fish Health

UltraClear® Potassium Permanganate Liquid Solution is one of the most trusted pond treatments for both water quality management and fish health support. This powerful oxidizer improves water clarity by breaking down dissolved organics, algae, and nitrogenous waste that cloud ponds and increase oxygen demand. Beyond water clarity, potassium permanganate has long been used by pond professionals and koi keepers as a treatment for external fish parasites and infections. It is effective against protozoan parasites such as Trichodina, Costia, and Chilodonella; flukes including Gyrodactylus and Dactylogyrus; and bacterial or fungal conditions such as gill disease and skin ulcers. During treatment, water turns pink, fading to amber once the oxidizing action is complete. Each 16 oz bottle treats up to 6,000 gallons at the 2 ppm clarity dosage. Use 4 ppm for parasite or bacterial treatments, or half-strength for ongoing maintenance. For safety, stop active treatment if fish show distress, and neutralize with hydrogen peroxide if needed.   Dosing Instructions Treatment Goal  Dosage Rate  Application Notes  Water Clarity (2 ppm)  1 oz per 375 gal (16 oz treats 6,000 gal)  Apply evenly with aeration; water should hold pink hue for ~6 hrs and fade to amber.  Maintenance (1 ppm)  1 oz per 750 gal  Half-strength dose; ideal for light organics or regular use.  Parasite/Bacterial (4 ppm)  1 oz per 188 gal (16 oz treats 3,000 gal)  Effective against protozoan parasites, flukes, and external bacterial/fungal issues; monitor fish closely.  Neutralization  3% Hydrogen Peroxide – 2 tbsp per 100 gal  Neutralize if treatment remains active >8 hrs or fish show distress. Wait 4 days before re-treatment.  **Do not use with any other treatments including water conditioners, dechlorinators, formalin, formaldehyde & medications.** **Water should hold pink hue for at least 6 hours. Repeat dose if pink color disappears within 45 minutes. Repeat with half dose (1 ppm) if pink color disappears after 1-2 hours. By-Pass Bio Filter when using 3-4 ppm dose.** Caution: STOP active treatment immediately if fish show signs of extreme discomfort, such as jumping or gasping for air. Product should be neutralized (see below) if it remains active for 8 hours. DO NOT OVERDOSE!
