The precision-sized hook is calibrated to penetrate locs without causing damage or over-tightening, while the comb's tooth spacing creates consistent twist patterns. By merging both functions into a single tool, you maintain momentum and control throughout the locking process, resulting in faster, more uniform dreadlocks. How to Use Section hair into desired dreadlock size. Use the comb teeth to twist the section into a tight spiral from root to tip. Without switching tools, flip to the crochet hook end and interlock loose hairs by inserting the hook through the dread, catching stray strands, and pulling them back through to tighten and secure. Repeat for each section. For maintenance, use the hook to pull in new growth and tighten loose areas. Clean after each use with warm soapy water and allow to air dry. FAQs What's the advantage of the 0.75mm hook size? The 0.75mm hook is the ideal size for most hair types—small enough for precision work without causing excessive tension or damage, yet large enough to efficiently interlock strands and create secure locs. Can beginners use this tool for starting dreadlocks? Yes. The dual-function design actually simplifies the learning curve by eliminating the need to coordinate multiple tools, making it easier for beginners to achieve consistent results. Will this work on fine or straight hair? Absolutely. The 0.75mm hook and twist comb design are effective on all hair types, including fine, straight, wavy, curly, and coily textures. How do I prevent the hook from snagging or breaking hair? Use gentle, controlled motions when interlocking. The 0.75mm size is designed to minimize snagging, but always work slowly through each section and avoid forcing the hook through tightly matted areas. Is this suitable for professional salon use? Yes. This tool is built to professional standards and designed for high-volume use, making it ideal for locticians, stylists, and barbers who specialize in dreadlock services. Can I use this for palm rolling or other dreadlock methods? While optimized for the twist-and-interlock method, you can use the comb end for palm rolling prep and the hook for finishing and maintenance across various locking techniques.
