Twinkle Toes Japanese Cedar

Twinkle Toes Japanese Cedar (Cryptomeria japonica 'Twinkle Toes') is a compact dwarf conifer whose new shoots emerge tipped in creamy white, scattered across a deep green plant that reaches roughly 3 to 4 feet tall and wide in zones 5 through 8. The variegation appears at the ends of the growth rather than across whole branches, so the effect is speckled rather than striped. Variegated Japanese cedars are uncommon, and this one keeps its color without the reversion problems that plague many white-tipped conifers. It stays smaller and denser than Yoshino and it carries more interest through the season than a plain green dwarf. Plant it where a dark background will show off the cream tips, such as in front of a hedge or against a fence. It also suits a container that stays out year round and a mixed evergreen bed that needs a lighter note. Light: partial sun to full sun, with afternoon shade where summers are hot Water: steady moisture through the growing season Soil: moist, well drained and acidic Care: remove any all-green shoot that outgrows the rest of the plant Add Twinkle Toes Japanese Cedar to your cart.
