Tulip 'Red Madonna'

Blooming in the latter half of the spring season, the 'Red Madonna' Parrot Tulip provides a bold, architectural presence in the landscape just as earlier bulbs begin to fade. Reaching a height of 16 to 22 inches, these tulips thrive in full sun and require well-drained soil to support their substantial, heavy-headed blossoms. Because of their stature and the sheer size of their flowers—which typically span four to five inches in diameter—they are most effective when planted in the middle of a mixed border or in dense clusters where their sturdy stems can stand tall against the spring elements. This variety is celebrated for its wild, deeply fringed petals that give the flowers a feathered, almost untamed appearance. The color palette is a rich saturation of crimson, scarlet, and warm cherry-red, interrupted by artistic strokes of mossy green and charcoal that emphasize its irregular, sculptural form. While they make a striking statement in the garden, 'Red Madonna' is also an exceptional choice for the cutting garden; its durable stems and eccentric, ruffled edges make it a captivating centerpiece for indoor arrangements where the intricate details of each bloom can be studied at eye level.
