Tudor Hat

The Tudor hat - known in its day as the flat cap - is first cousin to the beret and a distant ancestor to today's flat cap. It was the baseball cap of the Renaissance, worn by all classes and both sexes throughout western Europe. We leave ours plain so you can dress yours up or down as required. Wear it unadorned, like an average Joe on the job or a hausfrau going to market, or add jewels and feathers a la grumpy old King Henry. We offer two versions: a brim stiffened with fabric interfacing only, or a wired brim that can be bent to your desired shape. If you're ordering a gown or doublet, why not add a Tudor as well? We'll make your hat from the same piece of fabric as your garment for an exact match. Poplin. 12" diameter across flat crown; regular brim is 2.5" wide; wired brim about 2.75". Head size about 23.25". It will easily stretch up to 1/2", and can be restricted in size with a ribbon or cord hatband. If you have an XL head, contact us for a Troll Upgrade, or stop by one of our faire shops for a turn on our custom-built cranial lathe.
