Trees

This book accompanies an exhibition at the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain offering artistic and scientific visions of trees. Trees have been the subject of recent scientific discoveries that have allowed artists and scientists to see them in a new light. Capable of sensory perception, complex communication, symbiosis with many other species, and a unique ability to influence the climate, trees are equipped with surprising faculties long acknowledged by indigenous communities. This new volume strives to highlight the beauty, ingenuity, and biological richness of trees through works by contemporary artists, indigenous artists, scientific imagery, lm stills, photographs, and text. Based on the impressive exhibition at the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain, Paris, Trees invites the reader to dive into the fascinating and beautiful world of trees.
