Trail Dulcimer

We love how much character this little dulcimer packs into such a slim, travel-ready frame. The contrast between the pale lacewood body and the deep walnut neck gives it a genuinely striking look, and the moment you pick it up you appreciate just how light and easy it is to take anywhere. It is the kind of instrument that makes you want to play more often, simply because it is always ready to go. Construction & MaterialsThe Trail Dulcimer is built with a lacewood soundboard and body paired with a rich walnut neck and headstock. Three friction tuners keep things simple and secure, and the single decorative rosette sound hole adds a traditional folk aesthetic to the compact teardrop-style body. The light-colored nut and low-profile saddle bridge complete a tidy, well-considered build. Included with the instrument is a padded gig bag to keep it protected on the road. Sound & PlayabilityWith 3 strings and approximately 9 frets, this dulcimer is well suited to modal folk melodies, traditional Appalachian tunes, and meditative fingerpicking. The short 17 1/4-inch nut-to-bridge scale length keeps string tension comfortable, and the 1 1/4-inch nut width offers an approachable playing surface for beginners and experienced players alike. The narrow body and long neck profile make it effortless to hold in a lap or seated position, and the overall 26-inch length means it travels without fuss. About This InstrumentThe mountain dulcimer is one of North America's most distinctive folk instruments, rooted in Appalachian tradition and beloved for its intuitive diatonic fretting system. The Trail Dulcimer captures that heritage in a streamlined, portable format designed for musicians who want to bring music with them wherever they go. Whether you are new to the dulcimer or looking for a compact companion to your main instrument, this is a thoughtfully crafted choice that honors the instrument's folk roots. Care & MaintenanceStore the dulcimer in its included padded gig bag when not in use, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperature or humidity changes. Wipe down the strings and body with a soft dry cloth after playing. Friction tuners may occasionally need a gentle tighten if they slip during use. A light conditioning oil applied sparingly to the walnut neck every few months will help maintain the wood's natural luster.
