Mokuhanga (Flute Alone)

Mokuhanga, 13 Japanese Woodcuts for Flute Alone (Flute Alone), By Gary Schocker, Published by Theodore Presser Company. Since their creation nearly 200 years ago, the beautiful woodcut prints of Hokusai have inspired musicians and visual artists across many cultures. The stylized pre-Impressionist elegance of this Japanese art form captured the heart and imagination of post-Impressionist composer Gary Schocker, resulting in a series of musical moments woven together to form a rich yet delicate tapestry. Schocker’s 13 miniatures may be played as a suite, or as individual movements.
