The Windshear 3200 Area Dryer is Tornado’s workhorse air mover with nothing added to it: 3,200 CFM from a 0.6 HP motor, three speeds, a three-position kickstand, and a molded carry handle on top. It weighs 20 pounds, it stacks, and it is the cheapest way into a full-size Tornado air mover. If you want the same fan on a wheeled cart with a Caution Wet Floor sign, that is the Windshear 3200 Safety Dryer — identical machine, extra kit. 3,200 CFM, 20 pounds Air leaving at 3,758 feet per minute, from a fan one person carries up a staircase without thinking about it. Three angles, three speeds A built-in kickstand sets three drying angles, and three fan speeds let you run it quietly overnight in an occupied building. Built to be dropped Injection molded polypropylene copolymer with reinforced motor lugs, so a fall off a tailgate does not shear the motor out of the shell. What it does This is an axial air mover — a wide, fast sheet of air pushed straight across the floor. That is what dries carpet, pad, tile, concrete, upholstery and fresh paint, and it is what you reach for once an extractor or a wet vacuum has pulled the standing water out. Set the kickstand angle, pick a speed, walk away. Between jobs it stacks, so a closet or a van holds several without giving up floor space. Dries carpet, pad, hard floors, tile, concrete, upholstery, drapes and fresh paint Three speeds and a three-position kickstand Stackable, with a molded carry handle 18.5 foot cord on a standard household plug Doubles as a high-volume shop or warehouse fan when nothing is wet Two per wall outlet, and that is the thing to plan around The 3200 draws 4.35 amps. A 15-amp circuit safely carries about 12, so you get two of these on one outlet and three on a 20-amp circuit. If you are drying a whole flooded floor and need five or six fans running at once, the machine built for that is the Windshear Sidedraft, which draws 2.2 amps and has outlets on the back so the fans chain into each other. No cart, no wet floor sign. Warranty 1 year parts, 1 year labor Area Dryer or Safety Dryer? Same fan, different kit These two are the same machine. Tornado sells the fan on its own as the 98774, and sells it again as the 98786 with a two-wheel cart, a telescoping pull handle, and a yellow Caution Wet Floor sign that clips to the top of that handle. Nothing about the motor, the airflow or the housing changes. Windshear 3200 Area Dryer $289.00 Best if you already own signs Windshear 3200 Safety Dryer $379.00 Airflow, motor, speeds 3,200 CFM, 0.6 HP, 3 speeds 3,200 CFM, 0.6 HP, 3 speeds Wheels and pull handle No, carry handle only Yes Caution Wet Floor sign No Included Weight 20 lbs 21 lbs, plus the cart If you are moving one fan around a building all day, the cart on the Safety Dryer earns its money, and you are legally expected to put a wet floor sign out anyway. If you already have signs, or the fan lives in one place and gets carried rarely, buy this one and put the difference toward a second fan — two 3,200 CFM movers dry a room far faster than one on wheels. What is the difference between the 98774 and the 98786? The fan is identical. The 98786 “Safety Dryer” adds a two-wheel cart, a telescoping pull handle and a yellow Caution Wet Floor sign that hangs from that handle. The 98774 on this page is the fan on its own. How many can I run on one circuit? Two on a standard 15-amp circuit, three on a 20-amp circuit. It draws 4.35 amps, and you should never plan on using more than about 12 of the 15 amps a household circuit is rated for. Can I add the cart and sign later? Call or text 888-565-6163 and we will price the parts from Tornado for you. In most cases buying the 98786 outright works out better than retrofitting. Will it dry a wall or fresh paint? At the shallowest kickstand angle it will run air along a wall, which handles drywall, paint and cabinet faces. If you need to aim straight up a wall at 90°, the Windshear Sidedraft stands fully upright and this one does not. Can I leave it running overnight? It is built for continuous duty. Set it in position and switch it on before you walk away, and never move it while the fan is turning. Does it stack? Yes. The housing is designed to stack for storage and transport, which is the main reason crews buy several of them.
