Tonama - Vintage Distressed Rug - 5'6 X 8'7

This hand-woven, one-of-a-kind piece embodies Anatolian heritage through its flatwoven construction, faded patina, abrash detail, and overdyed finish. Featuring a low-pile, no-shed, high-traffic durable surface, it is layering-friendly, underfloor-heating safe, and offers a reversible weave, soft-touch distressed character with ghost-pattern 70s craftsmanship, a cotton-polyester blend, single-piece artisanal quality, and sun-bleached tones. About This Style Vintage rugs are designed to evoke an antique aesthetic, often featuring faded tones, abrash colour variation, and worn-look surface treatments derived from mid-20th-century Anatolian weaving traditions. Distressed rugs utilise surface treatments that mimic natural wear, including erased pile areas that reveal the base structure and overdyeing, a process where the rug is submerged in a saturated bath to leave ghost traces of the original pattern. Medallion rugs are defined by a dominant central circular, oval, or diamond-shaped motif, which serves as the anchor for the composition and is typically framed by a distinct border. Where It Works The flatweave construction makes this rug suitable for high-traffic areas such as hallways, kitchens, and living rooms. Its profile is layering-friendly and remains compatible with underfloor heating systems. Why Choose This Rug? — Features a prominent central medallion motif with a distressed, overdyed turquoise finish that reveals deep, sun-bleached tones. — Crafted from a durable cotton and polyester blend, combining the breathability of natural fibres with the moisture resistance of synthetics. — The flatwoven construction ensures the rug lies perfectly flat, preventing tripping and facilitating easy maintenance in busy households. — These rugs reference the Anatolian hand-weaving tradition; each piece is one-of-a-kind, with minor variations in colour and pattern that are characteristic of vintage-style production. — Ideal for high-traffic environments, this no-shed, low-pile design is compatible with underfloor heating and functions effectively as a base for layering.
