To RUTHI with Love!

My daughter, Ruthi, was adopted from China. My husband and I were missionaries in China and volunteered at a special needs orphan home and met Ruthi. It was love at first sight for both of us. We knew God was showing us our daughter. She was born with hydrocephalus and had several shunt surgeries while in the orphanage. During recovery from one of her shunt surgeries, her surgical wounds were not kept clean and she developed an infection and a high fever of 104 and kept that for 2 weeks. During that time, she suffered trauma to her brain and developed cerebral palsy, mostly on the right side of her body. She also has cognitive impairment because of it. Ruthi was 2 when we met her. She just learned to sit up. She couldn't crawl, walk or roll over. She would just sit in one spot for hours.  Once we began to foster to adopt Ruthi, we worked with her, along with many therapists, to help her mobility. It took 3 years to finalize the adoption. Once we did, we felt like we were to go back to our home in America to get Ruthi better care. She was 5 when we returned to the US. We began intensive therapies for her and I am thankful that Ruthi can now walk with crutches at age 10. But she is very slow. So using a simple adaptive stroller really helps us at the parks and when we travel. Sadly, in August 2021, my husband met Jesus face to face after a long battle with covid. It's just Ruthi and myself now. I don't have my husbands help with her, so having this stroller is vital for getting around to places where there's a lot of walking. I live in Central Florida and sadly there aren't as many adaptive devices at grocery stores, etc like there are in other states in the US. She currently has a very old, very worn Cruiser compact fold & positioning wheelchair. It would be great if we could upgrade a bit for her comfort and my convenience. Thank you!!!
